Icaro Matos - artist
Mathematical Harmony in the Work of Ícaro Matos
Ícaro Matos takes us on a fascinating journey where mathematical precision meets artistic expression. Ícaro Matos was born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1987 and graduated from the prestigious Escola de Belas Artes da Universidade Federal da Bahia (UFBA), Brazil.
He is characterized by his unique approach to art, which pushes the boundaries of classical techniques in a contemporary approach.
His work is a careful exploration of the mathematics of nature, the theory of the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence, conceptual elements that transcend cultures and eras. The intricate use of wood as a medium and the application of gold over it demonstrates an artist committed to technical excellence and with a deep understanding of the sublime forces that shape our world.
Looking at the creations of Ícaro Matos, we are transported into a world where geometry and aesthetics are harmoniously combined. His geometric constructions honor the mathematical laws that govern our universe and invite us to reflect on the hidden connections between art and science. Ícaro Matos appreciates the handwork and the materiality of the elements. Working mostly with wood, gold, photography, wood engraving, metal engraving and objects, he creates a body of expression between technical sophistication and minimalist aesthetics as well as transcendental concepts.
He currently lives in Germany and develops his work in his studio ICARUS in the Bensberg region near Cologne.
We invite everyone to admire the collection of Ícaro Matos, which includes wall objects in wood and gold, woodcuts, engravings on ceramics and metal.
